David Earl Jacobs
was born to Louis O. and Audrey L. Jacobs on May 1, 1939. God called him
to join his wife, Sharon, on January 8, 2021.
David was born in Washington Township, Indiana. He was the first surviving
child of Louis and Audrey. His older brother passed into eternity before
David’s birth. David became an older brother to Diann and Dennis.
On April 24, 1965, David married his Love, Sharon Cristy. Together they
raised two daughters, Brenda Diann and Laurel Denise. David adored
becoming a grandfather to Kayla and Hannah. David graduated from
Boone Grove High School. He served in the United States Army. He worked
for various jobs throughout his life. David worked hard to provide for
his wife and daughters. Most notably he worked for Borden’s Dairy in
Hammond and Dairy Rich in Merrillville. In 2001, David retired to care
for Sharon after she had broken her neck. At this time, he also labored
to help build Faith Baptist Church. David instilled a strong work ethic
in his daughters and grandchildren. He was a lifelong Cubs fan, and
enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading newspapers. David also liked being
outdoors and doing yardwork. David was a member of several
churches in his life. He gave his heart and talents to the Lord. He
worked with AWANA clubs for several years. In this position he made a
lasting impact on many young lives. David was preceded in death by
his wife of 55 years, Sharon, his parents, Louis and Audrey Jacobs, and
numerous Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. David is survived by
daughters: Brenda (Terry) Hulse, and Laurel Wilson; granddaughters:
Kayla (Adrian Reyes) Polinsky, and Hannah Wilson; sister, Diann
(Leonard) Ptacek; and brother, Dennis (Dyana) Jacobs. Also survived by
nieces, nephews, cousins, Aunt Ruth Ludington, and Terry’s children and
grandchildren.
