Kristen “Corki” Brumley,
57 of Kouts, Indiana, formerly of Baker, Louisiana, passed away
peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Monday, February 8,
2021. She was born November 17, 1963 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Hollis
Jackson “Jack” Milton and Marjorie (Munson) Milton. Corki graduated from
Baker High School and made her career as the Co-Owner, Office Manager,
and Bookkeeper of Applied Sealing Products, Inc. in Valparaiso, which
she proudly owned and operated with her husband, Kenny. She attended
Valparaiso Nazarene Church and helped those in need through various
church ministries. Her compassionate and giving heart showed in her love
for rescuing animals, and volunteering with BARC in Valparaiso and Dog
People of Livingston Parish in Louisiana. Corki was also a talented
woodworker who made and re-finished furniture for her family and
friends. Above all else, what she loved the most was her family. Holding
the title of “Maw Maw” to her beloved grandbabies was an honor and a
privilege for Corki. She will be fondly remembered as a warrior, with a
spunky and feisty personality, and loyal nature. Although she will be
dearly missed, Corki’s light shines bright in the lives of the people
she touched.
On December 14, 1985 in the Baker Methodist
Church, which her grandfather built, in Baker, Louisiana, Corki married
the love of her life, Kenny Brumley, who survives. She is survived by
their daughters: Kori (Stephen) Black of Valparaiso, Kayla (Jake) Keith
of Valparaiso, Kelsey (Bryant) Barrera of Kouts, Charlie (Jason) Helton
of Murphy, TX; grandchildren: Olivia Mae Brumley, Logan and Kinsley
Keith, Benjamin and Samuel Barrera, Tyler, Dyllan and Lincoln Helton;
siblings: Tim (Debbie) Milton, Kim Smith, Shannon Howell; mother-in-law,
Mary Ann (Brumley) Wallace; best friend, Tracy Aycock Johnston; and many
loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and beloved pets. She
was preceded in death by her parents; fathers-in-law: Jasper O. Brumley
and Marion Lee Wallace; brother-in-law, Rodney Smith; and animal soul
mate, Meggie.
A Celebration of Corki’s life will be
announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial
donations may be made in her name to
BARC or Dog People
of Livingston Parish.
