Raymond A. Dirindin, 74, of Valparaiso passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2020.  He was born September 17, 1946 in Chicago, IL to Peter & Anna (Lucas) Dirindin, graduated from Lowell High School, received a basketball scholarship from the University of Montana and received his B.A. in Education from Purdue University Calumet.   Ray made his career for years as a Station Mechanic with NIPSCO.  His Christian faith was nourished at St. Paul Catholic Church with regular attendance at their Saturday evening masses.  His loyal membership at the Valparaiso YMCA fulfilled his dedicated physical workout needs.  The New York Yankees baseball exploits allowed him an avenue to express his passionate athletic loyalty.  Many will remember Ray running regularly around town and golfing at Forest Park’s course.  Despite limitations in recent years, Ray retained his calm, optimistic, active & intelligent approach to life that couldn’t help but inspire those around him.  Survivors include his children, Pete (Marni) Dirindin of Colorado, Erica Dirindin of Indianapolis & Paul Dirindin of Colorado, his brother, R. Pete Dirindin of Chesterton and grandchildren, Anders, Dirks, Hendriks & Madison.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory a private family gathering will be held.  Memorial donations may be made to the Valparaiso YMCA or St. Paul Catholic Church.
