Melissa Dawn Collins, 35 of Valparaiso, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, September 14, 2019.  She was born January 9, 1984 in Valparaiso to Farley and Mary (Ray) Collins.  Melissa graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, and was currently working as a Manager at Subway, with previous experience as a Shift Manager at McDonald’s in South Haven for 12 years.  She was an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post 502 in South Haven, loved playing horseshoes and bowling, and cheering for the Chicago Cubs.  Above all, Melissa treasured her sons and being a loving and caring mother to them.  She will be fondly remembered as a funny and beautiful woman, who was full of life and loved to laugh.  Melissa will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  Melissa is survived by her sons: Aidan Collins and Levi Harsy; parents: Farley and Mary Collins of Valparaiso; significant other, Caleb Harsy; sisters: Carri (Russ) Kline of Minneapolis, MN, Mary Lisa Claussen of Valparaiso; niece and nephew: Sean and Regan Claussen; and many loving family members and friends.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Sylvia Ray, Rex Harold Ray, Enos Collins, Edna Collins, and Patricia Collins.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso.  The funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM on Thursday at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family for Melissa’s children.
