Marie R. Espravnik, 84, of Wanatah, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012.  She was born August 20, 1927 in San Pierre, to William and Rose Hankey and graduated from San Pierre High School in 1945.  Marie was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Wanatah, its Women’s Guild and past president of their Ladies Aid.  She had enjoyed square dancing, and activities with LaPorte County Farm Bureau. 
On August 4, 1951 she married James Espravnik, who survives along with their children; Howard (Mary Jane) Espravnik of Gallatin, TN, Shirley Espravnik of Fort Wayne, Homer Espravnik of Colorado Springs, CO and 2 grandchildren; Brian and Heather Espravnik.  She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Linda in 1972, an infant brother, Walter, and her sister, Caroline Klausing.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, 10:30 AM at Salem United Church of Christ in Wanatah, Rev. Carol Nordstrom officiating with burial to follow at Salem Cemetery.  Visitation Tuesday 3 – 7 PM at Wanatah Funeral Chapel, 309 North Main Street. Memorials may be made to Salem U.C.C.
