Linda A. Edwards,
60, of Kouts, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Porter Hospital.
She was born April 9, 1951 in East Chicago to Stewart and Anna
(Bercellie) Hofferth. Linda
graduated from Kouts School in 1969, attended PNC, and was a member of St.
Mary’s Catholic Church. Linda, a homemaker, worked as a past waitress,
Longaberger consultant, and room mother at Kouts School. Linda enjoyed sports,
spending time with family boating and fishing at their Koontz Lake cottage. She
loved gardening, swimming, and hosting family gatherings. She enjoyed baking,
cooking, and making cakes for special occasions. Her family was her pride and
joy and she had a soft-spot for animals, especially cats. Linda’s heart was pure
gold and her beautiful smile would light up any room. She will be greatly missed
by many.
On March 26, 1971 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kouts she married
Gregory D. Edwards, who survives, along with daughters, Julie (Shaun) Talley and
Angela (Derek) Maletta both of Kouts; one beloved granddaughter, Kennah Talley
and one grandchild, baby Maletta, arriving in August.
Also surviving are brother, Edward (Donna) Hofferth of Walkerton; sister,
Rita (Ronald) Perez of Chesterton; sister-in-law, Karin (Gary) Hinton of
Walkerton, father-in-law, Enoch Edwards of Kouts; many nieces and nephews. She
was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Theodore “Ted” Hofferth and
mother-in-law, Helen Edwards.
Visitation will be Thursday, 4-8 PM at Kosanke Funeral Home, 105 E. Indiana Ave. Kouts. A funeral mass will be held Friday at 10:30 AM directly at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 402 E. Indiana Ave., Kouts; the Rev. Thomas Tibbs officiating. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Linda’s honor to the Independent Cat Society or to the family trust fund for her grandchildren’s education.
