Ruth
Claussen, 100, of Hobart, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 at
home. She was born July 8, 1911 in Hobart to Carl & Hilda (Larson) Nelson.
She was a charter member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church Lakes of the
Four Seasons and had owned and operated Ruth’s Apparel and Ruth’s Yarn & Crafts
both in Hebron for many years.
Ruth was a past Matron of Order of the Eastern Star, past Royal Matron of
Crown Court #23 Order of the Amaranth, member of EMERA Club, served as a 4-H
Leader in Lake and Porter Counties,
and was past Bethel Guardian with Job’s Daughter, Bethels 44 and 54.
Ruth had served as Womens’ Leader for both Porter and Lake County Farm
Bureaus.
Ruth was
preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Martin in 1952. On January 16,
1954 she married Arnold Claussen who preceded her in death in 1999.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (Nord) Larson of Lombard, IL of
Hobart, granddaughter, Michelle (Jim) Searer and great grandchildren, Joseph,
Emily and Lukas, sister, Elinor Greener, nephew and care givers, Jeff and Sherri
Greener of Hobart. Ruth was preceded
in death by her brother Arthur Nelson in 1974.
A funeral service will
be held on Tuesday at 12 noon at Moeller
Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso with burial at Graceland
Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of service
at noon. Memorials may be
made to the church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
