Issac David O’Dell, 83, of Wanatah, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at the VNA Horton Hospice Center.  He was born July 4, 1928 in Amma, WV to Reese Issac and Freda (Absher) O’Dell.  He had been a Millwright at U.S. Steel, retiring with over 33 years of service.  Mr. O’Dell attended Hanna United Methodist Church and Davis Wesleyan Church; and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

On December 7, 1949 in Spencer, WV he married Phyllis J. Reynolds, who preceded him in death on May 9, 1997.  Survivors include six children: Larry O’Dell of Valparaiso, Bonnie (Ray) Woods of Greenfield, WI, Jerry (Stacy) O’Dell of Buffalo, IN, Terry O’Dell of LaPorte, Connie (John) Johnson of Hamlet and John O’Dell of Wanatah; his companion of 14 years, Janet Palmer of Wanatah; two brothers, John (Chris) O’Dell of Amma, WV and Don (Geraldine) O’Dell of Michigan City; one sister, Carol (Jim) Easton of Phoenix, AZ; 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.  In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by one son, Steven O’Dell; one daughter, Wanda Lee O’Dell; four sisters: Francis Emogene Bowers, Katherine House, Dolly “Tiny” McGlothlin, Sue Jury; and one brother, Lewis O’Dell.

Visitation will be Friday, 4-8 PM at Wanatah Funeral Chapel, where the funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Lucas Rees officiating.  Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Davis Wesleyan Church in Hamlet.
