Angelcrest Obituary

Rodney Scott Hines, 49, of Valparaiso, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at home after a lengthy illness with Crohn’s disease.  He was born June 2, 1962 in Valparaiso, graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1980 and had worked in the Engineering Department as a sprinkler system designer at McDaniel Fire Systems for many years.  Rodney was a gifted woodworker which included having built all of the kitchen cabinets in his parents’ home.  Being together with his family and all of the good times that came with life were primary to Rodney, he enjoyed playing guitar and all kinds of music. Recently his son, Eric’s, success in photography also brought him great joy along with spending time with Matthew and Will.

Survivors include his three sons: Eric, Matthew & William Hines, parents, Norman & Norma Jean (Spencer) Hines, brothers; Edgar (Christine) Hines, Terry (Debbie) Hines, Paul (Sherry) Hines, Jack Hines, his former wife, Brenda, and in-laws, Bill & Betty Wagner, all of Valparaiso.  He was preceded in death by grandparents, Edgar & Rosemary Hines and Lucille Berry.

A funeral service will be held Friday, 3:00 pm at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso with burial at Angelcrest Cemetery.  Visitation Friday from 1 – 3 pm.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
