Virginia D. Tverdik, age 89 of Valparaiso passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Gabeson Home in South Haven.  She was born on July 31, 1922 in Homestead, FL to William and Emma (Schrotten) Deck.  Virginia had worked as an office administrator for Emil Neuner and Kenny Husseman in Valparaiso.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Valparaiso and volunteered at the Presbyterian Resale Shop in Valparaiso.  Virginia also enjoyed giving to numerous charities.

 

On April 9, 1944 in Chicago, IL Virginia married John L. Tverdik who preceded her in death on March 16, 1995.  She is survived by her son, John (Deena) Tverdik of Burnsville, MN; granddaughter, Kristin (Tony) Frederick of Valparaiso; 2 great grandchildren, Chloe and Mason; and 2 sisters-in-law, Rosemary Deck of Gainesville, FL and Bess Deck of Aurora, IL.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Kyle in 1989 and 2 brothers, Harold and Bill.

 

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 26th at 10:30 AM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd, Valparaiso with Rev. Gretchen Seidler-Gibbs officiating.  Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.  A luncheon at the First Presbyterian Church of Valparaiso will follow the Thursday services.  Visitation will be Wednesday at the funeral home from 3-7 PM.  In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society.
