Ralph S. Knowlton, 65, of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Porter Hospital.  He was born October 23, 1944 in Sandusky, Ohio the son of Frederick & Betty (Whittaker) Knowlton, graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1963 and proudly served with the U.S. Army in Korea in the 1960’s.  He also graduated from South Bend College of Commerce and Ivy Tech College with a B.S. in Accounting.  Ralph had worked many years for Montgomery Ward in Chicago in their Accounts Payable Department then served as a Staff Accountant with Unitrin in Chicago until his retirement in 2004.  Ralph will be remembered by those close to him for his love of history, reading, classical music and his comprehensive knowledge in all areas.
In 1979 he married Jeannette Larson who survives along with sister, Kathryn (William) Willfond & brother, Kenneth Knowlton both of Valparaiso, nieces, Caitlin Thompson of Valparaiso, Jean Knowlton of New York, nephews, Russell Andrew of Minnesota & Jim Inglis of California and 2 grand nephews, Tristan & Kiernan Thompson.  He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Fred “Rick” Knowlton, Jr. in 1993.
A gathering of family and close friends will be held Wednesday from 4 – 6 PM at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso with service beginning at 6:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Porter County Cancer Society.
