Bonita M.
Cornett, age 89 of Valparaiso passed away Monday, December 19, 2011 at The
Life Care Center of the Willows, Valparaiso. She was born on May 17, 1922 in
Savonburg, Kansas the daughter of Clyde U. and Mary Mae (Buster) Hughes. Bonita
was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church of
Valparaiso. She was involved with the Rebecca Circle at church and was a
volunteer with the Porter Memorial Hospital Guild.
Bonita is survived by her daughters, Norma Jeanne Martin of California, Bonny
(Larry) Dearing of Colorado, and Peggy (Tom) Trumble of Valparaiso;
step-daughter, Carol Bates of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Mollie Hughes of
California; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by her parents; husbands, Ed Howard and Elmer Cornett; sisters, Ethel,
Eva, and Peggy; and brothers, Johnny, Gene, and Kenneth.
Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory, Valparaiso, private burial will
take place at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. A Memorial Service will be
scheduled and announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials are
requested to the donor’s choice of three
VNA programs, Nursing, Hospice, or
Christmas for the Elderly, 2401 Valley Dr, Valparaiso 46383.
