Melvin Roy Monnier,
age 90 of Hobart passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the Porter Hospital
Valparaiso Campus. He was born on April 17, 1920 in Chicago, IL to Frederick
and Dora (Iseminger) Monnier. Melvin had worked as a general contractor for the
University of Chicago and then as a plumber for Valparaiso University. He was a
32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Oak Lawn Masonic Lodge in
Illinois.
On November 25, 1942 in Chicago, Melvin married Evelyn M. Ingram who survives
along with their 6 children, Melvin F. (Shirley) Monnier of Portage, Alan
(Rhonda) Monnier of Valparaiso, Gail Monnier of Wheeler, Sherry Jones of
Valparaiso, Bruce (Amber) Monnier of Wheeler, and Robert Monnier of Valparaiso;
14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Kenneth Monnier of Chicago
and Frederick Monnier of Hobart; 3 sisters, Shirley Puritt, Lorraine Walker, and
Marilyn Valdez all of Las Vegas, NV; and several nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his parents; Son and daughter-in-law, David and Pat Monnier,
son-in-law, Kenneth Jones; and brother and sister-in-law, Milburn and Gertrude
Monnier.
Funeral Service
will be held on Friday, July 2nd at 1:30 PM at
Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd,
Valparaiso with Rev. James Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at
Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-8:00 PM
at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM.
