Milan “Mitch” Uzelac, 83, of Chesterton formerly of Gary passed away Tuesday July 20, 2010 at Porter Hospital in Valparaiso. He was born on January 31, 1927 to Stanley and Milica Uzelac.  Mitch was a graduate of Emerson High School in Gary and went on to work for the Gary Police Department for 41 years becoming Sergeant.  He served in WWII as an Army Sergeant and enjoyed being in F.O.P #61, American Legion #0279 and F.O.E. #2413.  Mitch enjoyed spending time with his family.
On June 4, 1951 in Gary he married Amy Anderson who survives along with 3 children:  Linda S. (Kenneth) Drever of Valparaiso, Michael J. (Kathleen) Uzelac, DDS. of Chesterton and Laura L. Uzelac, 1 sister:  Helen Panayatovich of  IL, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  Mitch was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers: Sam, Eli, George and Dan.
No services are planned, cremation to take place at Angelcrest Crematory.
