Margaret J. Evers, 75, of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012.  She was born April 6, 1936 in Rensselaer and graduated from Portage High School.  Margaret had worked in the Deli at the Valparaiso Wiseway on US #30 for many years.  She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, but none more than the companionship of her beagle, Bowie.
Survivors include her sister, Lori (John) Moulton of Valparaiso, niece, Kelli Barnes of Chicago, nephew, David Barnes of Valparaiso, aunt, Vera Jones of Missouri, and uncle, Ralph Evers of Portage.  She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Verna & Roy East.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, 1:00 pm at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso with burial to follow at DeMotte Cemetery at 2:15 pm.  Visitation will precede the service from 11 am – 1 pm.  Memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice of porter County.
